Dear Hotel Manager

Gene Doucette again, from Room 109. I'd like to apologize for my wife's behavior this afternoon. Please allow me to explain.

We arrived at the pool at just before 2:00 P.M. having not eaten lunch. As I'm sure you are well aware, you have an indoor cafe right beside the pool area. You are no doubt also aware that the hours at this cafe are 11:30 to 2:00. Tragically, my wife and I were unaware that New Hampshire time is five minutes faster than Massachusetts time, and thus the cafe was just closing. Nonetheless, we were heartened to be informed by the helpful employees of the cafe that somebody would be up to open the pool bar and grille within a half an hour.

At 3:00 P.M. it became evident that nobody was planning to open up the pool bar and grille. I can't say we were particularly surprised by this fact as we had already established the previous day that the "pool bar" advertised in your brochure was also not considered an "amenity" by the helpful staff person we spoke to when booking our trip.

When my wife decided to go to the front desk and inquire on the matter, you can imagine her surprise when the front desk said that it should be open, and further, that room service was available every day, and who on earth told us it wasn't?

When the front desk went to the restaurant to resolve this communication problem, the head chef said that he was not told the bar was supposed to be staffed.

I am sure this is all a simple misunderstanding. After all, the front desk is a full thirty feet from the restaurant, so I can completely understand it if the people at the desk were never informed that nobody in the restaurant had read the sign on the pool bar stating the hours, had never read the brochure stating the hours, and had no room service.

I thank you and your staff for promptly opening the pool bar and grille after being apprised of this communication problem, and I regret any scene we may have caused.
